  • Common culture-linguistic errors

Wrong: I have an important meeting.
Correct: I have a meeting. (All meetings are important)

Wrong: I am sorry, I cannot break my promise.
Correct: I cannot do that. I promised. (A promise is made not to be broken. You cannot apologise for 'not breaking a promise').

Wrong: I know how busy you are, but I really need your help!
Correct: Could you help me out when you have time? (If someone is busy, and you know it, why then other him with an annoying request?)
